5 facts about this card
Aron’s Reverse Holo comes from EX Ruby & Sapphire, the June 18, 2003 English release that launched the EX Series and became the first main TCG expansion to feature Generation III Pokémon and Pokémon-ex.
This reverse-holo variant is a true early-ex-era collectible because EX Ruby & Sapphire cards were issued in Reverse Holo form alongside the regular set, giving even a Common like Aron a much flashier chase version.
Aron was brand-new when this card released, having just debuted in Generation III as Pokédex #304, so this card captures collectors’ first TCG-era impression of the Iron Armor Pokémon.
Aron’s Ruby and Sapphire Pokédex entries describe it eating iron ore to build its steel body and even chewing through bridges, rails, and wrecked trucks, which makes its tiny 40 HP card feel like the humble beginning of a famously hard-headed line.
The artwork is by Mitsuhiro Arita, one of the original Pokémon TCG illustrators who worked on the game from its prototype stage, giving this little Aron a direct link to one of the hobby’s foundational artists.
