Retail Supply Eases, Trophy Cards Stay Hot

Perfect Order cools at retail while rare slabs and ETBs keep pulling attention

Today's market has a weird split, but it's a pretty clear one. Mass retail supply looks a little healthier, especially around Perfect Order, while higher-end scarcity still has buyers swinging hard for true trophy pieces and hard-to-find sealed. That's not a bubble signal to me, it's a two-speed market.
The cheap panic flips are cooling off. The premium stuff, unique promos, event cards, scarce ETBs, and clean chase slabs, is still getting respect.
Top stories
Trophy market just printed another big statement sale
A CGC 10 Tropical Mega Battle Bilingual Exeggutor reportedly changed hands at $57,500, and that matters beyond one niche card. Ultra-scarce historical pieces are still attracting real money even as broader collectors complain about affordability. That confirms the top end hasn't cracked. If anything, capital is rotating upward into cards with genuine story, rarity, and population protection.
Perfect Order supply finally looks less broken
Multiple community posts flagged Target stock holding for over two hours, with a limit of 2. That's a meaningful shift from instant sellout behavior. Sentiment around retail availability improved fast, and it likely puts short-term pressure on sealed premiums for Perfect Order. Interesting wrinkle, though, one of the week's gainers is Staryu [Reverse Holo] from Perfect Order, so singles demand isn't rolling over evenly. Retail supply is improving faster than card-level demand is fading.
Destined Rivals ETBs are getting treated like scarce product
Collectors were posting about Destined Rivals ETBs priced around $225 at local shops, far above what casual buyers want to stomach. That lines up with the broader complaint that the hobby feels expensive right now. If ETBs remain the hardest format to source while packs and bundles restock more often, sealed collectors will keep paying a format premium. I don't love chasing ETBs at that number unless you know local supply is truly dry.
Reprint chatter is back, but the details aren't there
There was fresh talk of a "big reprint confirmed", but without a set name or product list, that's noise until proven otherwise. The market's reaction so far says the same thing, we have no broad sealed flush yet outside isolated retail wins like Perfect Order. If a major reprint were actually imminent and specific, you'd expect cleaner downside in sealed sentiment across the board. We don't have that.
Competitive and event demand is quietly building in the background
The 2026 NAIC registration and prizing details are now public, with Mega Blastoise tied to this year's event prizing. These event-linked items often start as player news and end as collector targets. Not an immediate market mover today, but it's the kind of announcement that plants a seed early, especially for exclusive promos and sealed event-adjacent merchandise.
Today's movers90 day trend
Erika's Gloom, Erika's Oddish, Ascended Heroes
Both showed up among the top 7-day gainers. That's usually a sign of set-specific attention spreading beyond the top chase and into character-driven side cards. If collectors are building themed pages or master sets, these lower-tier cards can move fast off a tiny supply base. Watch for follow-through, not just one-off spikes.
Staryu [Reverse Holo], Perfect Order
This is the interesting contradiction today. Retail stock is getting easier to find, but this card still landed on the gainer list. That tells me people are still ripping the set and pulling attention toward niche reverse holos, or supply online was thinner than you'd expect. If Perfect Order keeps sitting at retail, I'd expect this kind of move to cool unless the card has true collector appeal.
Fantina, Japanese Lost Abyss
Japanese trainer supporters can wake up quickly when binder demand kicks in, and Fantina fits that pattern. This looks more like collector rotation than broad market speculation. Good sign for Japanese singles depth.
Ignore most of the 7-day losers list
Charizard Skyridge -99.92%, Umbreon Neo Discovery -99.79%, and similar prints are almost certainly bad data, bad listings, or outlier sales. Don't let that fake you out. The real sentiment picture is softer on legacy grails like Shining Charizard and Shining Gyarados, both showing negative sentiment shifts, but that's from tiny mention counts, not a real collapse.

Sentiment improved to 80.0, even on low mention volume. That's not enough to call a breakout, but it is enough to put the card on watch. Rocket nostalgia still sells, and if conversation broadens from one mention to ten, price usually follows.

Ash Greninja EX [TV Tokyo Lottery]
Raw sits around $6.30, PSA 10 around $16,999.50, for a headline ROI of roughly 103,895%. The catch is obvious, actually sourcing a clean raw copy at that number is the whole game. Still, with a 56.3% gem rate, this is the kind of overlooked promo where disciplined sourcing can print absurd upside.
Chansey [1st Edition]
Raw is about $6.72, PSA 10 about $209.03, implying roughly 82,150% ROI with a 54.1% gem rate. This is the more realistic play of the two. Lower ceiling, much easier lane, and vintage commons/uncommons still get underpriced in raw stacks all the time.
High-risk note on Munchlax and Treecko [Reverse Holo]
The ROI numbers are eye-popping, 91,807% and 46,038%, but gem rates of 25.0% and 17.9% mean condition risk is brutal. Great if you can pre-screen sharply. A brick if you can't.

Community Pulse

The biggest positive swing in community chatter was simple, people were surprised to see Perfect Order sit in stock. That kind of post gets traction because collectors are tired of instant sellouts. Sentiment direction, bullish on access, bearish on short-term flip margins.
Retail availability sentiment is improving
Posts arguing that Pokemon is becoming a rich person's hobby picked up attention. That's a real sentiment headwind. It doesn't kill demand, but it does push casual buyers away from sealed chasing and toward singles, trades, or sitting out entirely. Sentiment direction, bearish for broad hobby goodwill.
Affordability complaints are getting louder
Fake 151 Booster Bundle stories on secondary marketplaces are making buyers more cautious. Trusted sellers benefit, random marketplace listings don't. Sentiment direction, bullish for authenticated channels, bearish for loose sealed bought blind.
Counterfeit anxiety is back
Card show chatter highlighted active buying around Sylveon and other Eeveelutions, plus steady liquidity for older specialty cards. That's not hype, that's durable collector demand. Sentiment direction, steady positive.
