Promos Rip Higher, Data Noise Gets Louder

Scarce promos and grading plays are hot, but several 7-day movers look like bad comps.

Today’s market still looks split in two. Genuine money is chasing scarce promos and clean grading setups, while a big chunk of the 7-day movers board is obviously polluted by thin sales, relists, or one-off comps that don’t hold up under scrutiny.
The strongest real signal is the continued bid under niche promo material and selective sealed EV. Shining Legends remains the standout sealed story with a 2.64x pack EV ratio, while Crown Zenith keeps drifting into the danger zone for pack rippers at 0.78x.
Top stories
Promo cards are getting the heat, but not every spike is real.
Eevee [Stamped] from Majestic Dawn, Dragonite EX/SV-P, and Rapidash from WoTC Promos all posted roughly 992% to 997% gains over seven days. That kind of move almost never reflects broad market repricing by itself. Still, the theme matters: collectors are clearly paying up for weird, low-pop, nostalgia-heavy promos. The narrative is real, the percentages are not. Expect more follow-through on genuinely scarce promos, but don’t anchor to these headline gains.
The losers board is screaming bad data, not panic selling.
Feraligatr, Brock’s Rhydon [1st Edition], Rockruff, Seismitoad EX, and Lt. Surge’s Pikachu all show 99.8% to 99.9% declines. That’s not a market crash, that’s broken comp behavior. A miscategorized listing, damaged copy, or zero getting replaced by a real sale can do this. The interesting part is Seismitoad sentiment actually improved to 70 with 8 mentions, which flat-out contradicts the printed price action. When sentiment and price diverge this hard, trust the tape less, not more.
Grading spreads are still absurd on overlooked cards.
Ash Greninja EX [TV Tokyo Lottery] is the loudest example, raw at $6.30 versus PSA 10 at $16,999.50, with a 56.3% gem rate. Even after accounting for obvious low-volume distortion, that spread is wild. Beedrill, Golurk, and Houndour also show huge percentage returns from low raw bases. This tells you the market still rewards condition rarity aggressively, especially on cards that sit in bulk boxes raw but look elite in a 10.
Sealed EV is separating the smart rip from the brick.
Shining Legends leads the board with a 2.64x pack EV ratio and 164% margin. That’s not subtle. White Flare is also healthy at 1.27x, good enough to keep opening interest alive. Crown Zenith at 0.78x is the opposite story. People still love the set, but at current levels the math says collectors are paying for the experience, not the expected return.
Today's movers90 day trend
Eevee [Stamped], Majestic Dawn, +996.51%
This is the kind of card that can go dead quiet for months, then jump off one or two aggressive sales. The move is too large to treat as a new floor, but stamped Eevee material has real collector depth. Watch for whether new listings actually clear near the spike level. If they don’t, this fades fast.
Dragonite EX/SV-P, +996.09%Dragonite EX/SV-P · Pokemon Japanese SV-P PromosNM$21.74+12.9%
Dragonite has one of the safest character bids in the hobby, and Japanese promos keep outperforming when supply is thin. This one has a better chance of holding some of the move than the average 7-day rocket, especially if clean copies dry up. Still, don’t chase a vertical candle.
Rapidash, WoTC Promo, +991.8%
Interesting because it fits the broader vintage promo bid. Less interesting because a near-1000% move on an older promo usually means the baseline comp was junk. If you own it, great. If you’re buying, wait for the market to settle.
Seismitoad EX, -99.88%
Normally this would be a falling knife. Here, it looks more like broken data. Sentiment improved sharply to 70 across 8 mentions, which suggests people are talking about it more positively than the price board implies. That disconnect makes Seismitoad one of the better “verify before acting” cards on today’s list.
Armored Mewtwo/SM-P, sentiment downArmored Mewtwo · Pokemon SM PromosNM$253.40PSA 10$4128.32+13.0%
Not a top mover on price this week, but it matters. Sentiment fell to -30 on 6 mentions, which is enough to flag cooling enthusiasm on one of the hobby’s most recognizable modern promos. This usually happens when a card gets too comfortable at a premium and buyers start pushing back.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Ash Greninja EX [TV Tokyo Lottery]
Raw is $6.30, PSA 10 is $16,999.50, listed ROI 103,895%, with a 56.3% gem rate. Those numbers are so extreme that you should assume very low transaction depth on the PSA 10 side. Even so, the setup is obvious. If you can source authentic, clean copies, this is the kind of lottery-ticket grading play that actually has a reason behind it.
Cinccino [Master Ball]
Raw is $12.83, PSA 10 is $26.74, ROI 35,897%, gem rate 66.7%. The dollar spread is much smaller, but the gem rate is strong and the entry is cheap. This is the more practical submission play for collectors already building a bulk grading stack. It won’t change your life, but it can quietly print if your costs are controlled.
Honorable mention, Golurk
Raw at $11.17, PSA 10 at $199.23, gem rate 25.4%. Harder grade, bigger payoff. This is for sharp eyes only.

Community Pulse

Social chatter is circling around two very different themes. First, people are still hunting weird promos and under-the-radar slabs, which lines up with the promo spikes on the board. Sentiment there is mostly positive, with collectors showing more patience for niche cards than for mainstream modern chase cards.

Second, there’s visible fatigue around a few trophy-style names. Armored Mewtwo/SM-P slipped to -30 sentiment on 6 mentions, and Mewtwo [Gold Star] fell to -40 on 4 mentions. That doesn’t mean these cards are broken, but it does tell you buyers are getting more price-sensitive at the top end. Espeon EX also turned sharply negative at -60, though on only 1 mention, so I wouldn’t overread that one.

One more flag: Seismitoad’s improving sentiment against a supposed 99.88% price collapse is exactly the kind of contradiction collectors should pay attention to. The community is telling you the board may be lying.
