Topps Chrome stays hot while Prize Packs slip

Topps Chrome leaders climbed again as Prize Pack singles kept falling

Today's market still looks split right down the middle. Pokemon 2000 Topps Chrome keeps attracting money, with Arcanine, Jolteon, and Gengar variants posting some of the cleanest 30-day gains on the board, while Prize Pack singles continue to get sold into strength and, in some cases, straight into the floor.

There was also a small but real international collector story today. News of China's Gem Pack Vol 6, built around Applin and its evolutions, adds another reminder that China-exclusive and China-first product is getting watched more closely by set collectors than it was even a year ago.

Topps Chrome is still the strongest lane in singles.

Arcanine rose 40.0% to $210, Arcanine Sparkle matched that 40.0% move to $210, and Jolteon Tekno climbed 39.7% to $209.56 over 30 days. Gengar base and Gengar Sparkle both added 13.8%, now sitting at $441.83. This isn't random spillover. Collectors are paying up for scarce late-90s and 2000-era oddball issues, especially cards with low-pop, condition-sensitive finishes that look great in slabs.

Prize Pack singles are still in a correction.

Eevee ex Prize Pack dropped 49.18% to $52.67, Lugia V fell 23.21% to $122.31, Mewtwo VSTAR slid 21.38% to $55.16, Vaporeon ex lost 21.09% to $40.66, and Espeon ex fell 19.77% to $43.33. That lines up with the same pattern from yesterday's brief. Players and spec buyers chased stamped and hard-to-pull promos earlier, but current pricing is being stress-tested now that more copies have surfaced and buyers are getting picky.

China's Gem Pack Vol 6 is a niche release, but it matters.

The August 7 release date gives collectors a near-term international target, and the product setup is unusual enough to get attention. With 28 Pokemon, six holo variants each, plus Illustration Rares, the set totals 196 cards. If the Applin line includes a China-exclusive card, expect early demand from regional collectors first, then from global language-set builders. This probably won't move the whole market, but it can absolutely create short, sharp spikes in sealed Chinese product and any exclusive singles.

Charizard and Pikachu still win the broad collector vote.

Radiant Charizard Prize Pack gained 25.02% to $107.55, Pikachu from Chinese 151 Collect rose 17.05% to $268.91, and Charizard Prerelease from Evolutions added 12.72% to reach $2,512.48. That's a useful check against the weakness in other Prize Pack cards. Not every promo is broken. The biggest names are still finding buyers, especially when supply feels limited or the card has clear display appeal.

Sealed EV still favors selective ripping, not broad box buying.

Shining Legends leads the pack EV table at 2.73x, with a theoretical 173% margin. White Flare is positive at 1.17x. Crown Zenith sits underwater at 0.78x, or negative 22%. That's not a green light to rip everything in sight, but it does tell you where singles value is still concentrated and where sealed product looks too efficient.

Jolteon Tekno, Pokemon 2000 Topps Chrome, $209.56, up 39.7% in 30 days.

PSA 10 $5131.05

This is the kind of move that gets attention fast because the PSA 10 average is already $5,131.05. Raw copies are still well below the slab ceiling, and Tekno cards have that mix collectors love, weird issue, tough condition, and real eye appeal. If clean raws dry up, this keeps climbing.

Radiant Charizard Prize Pack, $107.55, up 25.02%.

This is the exception that proves the rule in Prize Packs. While much of the category is falling, Charizard is acting like a real chase card. The PSA 10 average at $1,000 leaves a huge premium for top grade copies, which keeps raw buyers engaged.

That's not a normal cooldown, that's a reset. Unless you're getting copies well under recent comps, there's no rush here. Falling prices this steep usually need time to base out.

This one stands out because it contradicts the broader Topps Chrome strength. Mew is still a premium character, so a pullback while Arcanine and Jolteon rip higher suggests buyers may be rotating within the set toward scarcer variants or better entry points. I'd watch for stabilization rather than chase the first bounce.

Scoop Up, Shadowless

Raw copies average $10.93, while PSA 10 copies average $395.04. That's a headline ROI of 799%, with a 19.6% gem rate. The catch is obvious, Shadowless condition is tough. Still, if you can source truly clean copies in person and avoid whitening, the math is strong enough to justify the hunt.

Imposter Professor Oak, 1st Edition

Raw is around $40.00 and PSA 10 averages $943.64, also around 799% ROI. Gem rate is just 15.0%, so this is not a bulk submission play. It's a sniper play. Hand-pick only, and be brutal on centering and edge wear.
