Rayquaza leads while Lugia keeps ripping higher

Japanese singles lead the action as sealed EV stays split

Today’s market has two clear lanes. Japanese singles are getting the most attention, led by early Storm Emeralda pricing and a huge 30-day run in Lugia VSTAR, while sealed remains a tale of haves and have-nots. Shining Legends still looks strong to rip at a 2.87x pack EV ratio, White Flare is barely positive at 1.04x, and Pitch Black is still a bad gamble at 0.72x.
That matters because it confirms what collectors have been feeling all week. Money is chasing standout cards and select older packs, not lifting the whole board.
Top stories
Mega Rayquaza ex is the card to beat from Storm Emeralda.
Early Japanese pricing has Mega Rayquaza ex way out front, with both the gold rare and Special Illustration Rare setting the tone for the set. The bigger surprise is what isn’t leading. Zinnia’s Trust came in softer than many expected, while Kecleon, Kyogre, and Groudon Illustration Rares are holding stronger early tags than a lot of side cards usually do. That tells you buyers are paying for artwork and fan-favorite Pokémon first, trainer demand second. For anyone planning ahead for Delta Reign, that’s a useful read-through.
Competitive chatter is starting to support Dragapult ex demand.
The 2026 Worlds forecast points to Dragapult ex potentially taking more than 50% of the field. If that happens, visibility alone should keep competitive copies moving, and it also gives support cards tied to Dragapult and Blaziken ex a short-term bump. I wouldn’t call this a full market-wide catalyst, because the same forecast suggests newer cards from Pitch Black are more of an incremental add than a format reset. That lines up with sealed data too, Pitch Black sitting at 0.72x EV and still looking like a brick for most rips.
Lugia VSTAR is not cooling off yet.
Lugia VSTAR from Japanese Paradigm Trigger is up 149.5% over 30 days, now at $22.16, with a PSA 10 average of $108.65. That’s a real move, not a tiny-card blip. Part of this looks like renewed collector interest in recognizable Sword & Shield-era chase cards, and part of it looks like buyers rotating into cleaner Japanese supply where the entry point is still manageable. After a run like this, I wouldn’t chase every copy, but the card has clearly moved from sleeper to watched item.
Older niche holos are still getting repriced, and not always in the right direction.
Altaria [Holo] from Japanese Lost Link dropped 49.92% in 30 days to $21.00, even with a PSA 10 average of $291.93. That kind of gap usually looks tempting, but steep drops in thin cards can stick around longer than people expect. This feels more like a liquidity problem than a hidden bargain. If you want one, buy carefully and don’t assume the old high comes right back.
Sealed EV still favors selective ripping, not broad confidence.
Shining Legends improved slightly from yesterday’s 2.85x to 2.87x EV, which keeps it in rare air. White Flare slipped from 1.06x to 1.04x, still positive but thin. Pitch Black held at 0.72x, which confirms the current singles mix isn’t bailing out pack buyers. That split is healthy to track because it shows where sealed demand has real support and where it’s just hope.

Lugia VSTAR, Japanese Paradigm TriggerLugia VSTAR · Pokemon Japanese Paradigm TriggerNM$22.16PSA 10$108.65+11.2%
Now $22.16, up 149.5% in 30 days. This is the cleanest momentum move on the board today. The PSA 10 average at $108.65 gives it room, but after a near-150% run, raw buyers need to stay picky on condition.
Altaria [Holo], Japanese Lost LinkAltaria [Holo] · Pokemon Japanese Lost LinkNM$21.00PSA 10$291.93+20.0%
Now $21.00, down 49.92% in 30 days. The graded premium is still there, but falling raw prices on niche older Japanese holos usually mean patience wins. Watch for stabilization first.
Storm Emeralda singles, especially Mega Rayquaza ex
No full English market yet, but the early Japanese hierarchy matters. Rayquaza is the chase card, and the stronger-than-expected showing from Kecleon, Kyogre, and Groudon IRs says artwork demand is real. That’s useful if you’re planning preorders or trade targets ahead of Delta Reign.

Community Pulse

The social chatter is mixed, and honestly a little narrow today. Pikachu VMAX is the clear sentiment winner with a 66.67 score across 3 mentions, which isn’t huge volume but does show buyers leaning positive.

On the other side, sentiment slipped for Charizard [Shadowless] at -38.0 across 5 mentions, plus softer reads on Espeon VMAX, Bugsy’s Scizor, and Skarmory EX [1st Edition]. I wouldn’t overreact to low mention counts, but the Charizard chatter matters more because it had the most discussion of the group. The tone feels like price fatigue, not panic selling.
