Vintage oddballs run while 30th leaks get shut down

eBay pulls leaked anniversary listings as vintage 1st Edition cards keep ripping

Today's market has two very different gears. Vintage 1st Edition singles are still catching real money, especially lower-pop holos and rares, while a chunk of modern cards keeps sliding back to earth after fast summer spikes. On the sealed side, the big story is enforcement, not product math, with leaked 30th Anniversary listings getting pulled and that likely putting a floor under official launch pricing.
Top stories
eBay pulled leaked 30th Anniversary listings, and that's bullish for launch pricing.
Secondary market sellers lost a short-term lane after leaked in-hand 30th Anniversary product listings were removed at TPCi's request. That matters because leaked stock usually undercuts official release demand and gives flippers an early exit. With those listings getting scrubbed, speculative supply looks tighter heading into the September 16 rollout, which should help sealed product hold firmer out of the gate than it would in a loose leak cycle.
30th Celebration reveals are doing their job, keeping collector attention warm.
New cards shown from 30th Celebration, including Fuecoco ex, Slowpoke, Marill, Kangaskhan, plus Yuka Morii Trainer reprints like Ultra Ball and Switch, aren't moving singles prices yet. But they are building a pretty clear collector pitch: nostalgia, recognizable play pieces, and art-first appeal. That's usually enough to keep pre-release interest healthy, especially when leaked supply is being squeezed at the same time.
Vintage 1st Edition names are still the cleanest strength on the board.
Kabutops 1st Edition from Fossil is up 149.16% in 30 days to $22.88 raw, while Dark Weezing 1st Edition from Team Rocket climbed 143.2% to $10.79. These aren't random jumps. Buyers are moving into older cards with lower entry points, and the slab ceilings back it up, PSA 10 averages sit at $431.61 for Kabutops and $246.06 for Dark Weezing. That's real collector demand, not just one weird sale.
Modern pull cards are still getting repriced lower.
Feebas from Surging Sparks is down 49.82% to $9.67, Simipour from Black Bolt fell 49.71% to $14.63, and Mega Lucario ex promo dropped 49.47% to $13.41 over 30 days. This lines up with the same pattern we've been seeing all week, modern cards that popped fast on novelty are getting sold into. If a card doesn't have elite play demand, elite art demand, or true scarcity, the market is cutting it back.
Shining Legends still beats most sealed product if you're talking pack value.
Pack EV for Shining Legends sits at 3.04x, miles ahead of White Flare at 0.97x and Evolutions at 0.68x. That doesn't mean go rip every pack you see, sealed premiums still matter. But the gap is big enough that Shining Legends remains one of the few products where the singles inside still make the math look attractive, while White Flare and Evolutions still look like hold products, not opening products.

Kabutops 1st Edition, Fossil, $22.88 raw, up 149.16%.Kabutops [1st Edition] · Pokemon FossilNM$22.88PSA 10$431.61+13.3%
This is the kind of move I take seriously. It's not a flashy chase card, which is exactly why it matters. Collectors are reaching for vintage names that still feel affordable raw, and Kabutops fits that lane perfectly. With PSA 10 at $431.61, clean copies still have room if raw supply stays thin.
Dark Weezing 1st Edition, Team Rocket, $10.79 raw, up 143.2%.Dark Weezing [1st Edition] · Pokemon Team RocketNM$10.79PSA 10$246.06+25.8%
Same story, maybe even cleaner. Team Rocket has broad collector support, and low-dollar vintage cards are easier for buyers to justify in bunches. A ten-dollar raw card with a $246.06 PSA 10 average is the kind of thing binder diggers and grading flippers both chase.
Feebas, Surging Sparks, $9.67 raw, down 49.82%.Feebas · Pokemon Surging SparksNM$9.67PSA 10$106.31+27.6%
This looks like a textbook cool-off, not a hidden bargain yet. A PSA 10 average of $106.31 sounds nice, but if raw copies keep flooding out of opened product, the floor can still move lower. I'd wait for stability before calling the bottom.
Decliners
Mega Lucario ex promo, $13.41 raw, down 49.47%.Mega Lucario ex · Pokemon Mega Evolution PromoNM$13.41PSA 10$103.80-24.9%
Promos can get ugly when early hype fades and supply turns out bigger than expected. The PSA 10 average is only $103.80, so the spread isn't wide enough to hide grading risk unless you're pulling truly mint copies.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Azumarill Reverse HoloAzumarill [Reverse Holo] · Pokemon Delta SpeciesNM$35.68PSA 10$1040.76+29.5%
Raw copies average $35.68, while PSA 10 averages $1,040.76. That's an 800% spread before fees, which is huge. The catch is the 20.2% gem rate, so this is a condition game. If you've got clean old binder copies with strong holo surfaces and sharp backs, this is a real submission target.
DeoxysDeoxys · Pokemon DeoxysNM$7.99PSA 10$647.38+46.0%
Raw is just $7.99 and PSA 10 sits at $647.38, good for 787% ROI on paper with a 26.0% gem rate. That's one of the better risk-reward setups on today's sheet because the raw buy-in is so low. Even after grading costs, one gem can pay for a small stack of misses.

Community Pulse

Collectors are talking a lot about anniversary product control after the leaked listings got pulled, and the tone is mostly positive. People hate missing early product, sure, but the broader read is that tighter enforcement gives regular buyers a fairer shot at release.

On card chatter, Mewtwo Master Ball sentiment is slipping hard, down to a -36.15 score across 13 mentions, which tells me buyers are getting pickier on premium Japanese variants at current ask levels. Dark Charizard 1st Edition also showed declining sentiment, though only on one mention, so I wouldn't overread it. On the other side, Mega Charizard EX sentiment improved sharply to 82.5, and Squirtle chatter turned positive too. Charizard still pulls attention fast, and nostalgia names are winning the room again.
