Old singles keep ripping while Japanese cards reset

Evolutions, Guardians Rising, and BREAKthrough jump as many Japanese singles fall hard

Today's market is still split, but the gap got wider. English-era singles from XY and Sun & Moon kept ripping, with several cards up more than 140% in 30 days, while a long list of Japanese singles got hit for roughly 47% to 49% losses over the same stretch.
That backs up yesterday's read. Buyers are paying up for recognizable chase cards and grade targets, but they're getting a lot more selective on niche Japanese pieces and cards that ran too far too fast.
Top stories
XY and Sun & Moon singles are still the cleanest strength on the board.
M Mewtwo EX from BREAKthrough climbed 146.68% to $37.10, Decidueye GX from Guardians Rising rose 144.16% to $36.27, and Mew holo from Evolutions gained 146.66% to $33.94. This isn't random. These are recognizable set anchors from eras collectors actually remember opening, and the price action says buyers still prefer familiar chase cards over speculative fringe names.
Japanese singles are in a real reset, not a tiny pullback.
Jirachi from Legendary Heartbeat fell 48.68% to $36.07, Darkrai GX from GX Ultra Shiny dropped 49.04% to $69.80, Umbreon V from Eevee Heroes slid 47.18% to $35.44, and even older cards like Janine's Beedrill and Kabuto 1st Edition were down about 47% to 48%. That's too broad to ignore. This looks like buyers stepping away from thinner listings and premium tags that couldn't hold once fresh demand cooled off.
Sealed talk is getting louder, but the numbers still say pick your spots.
Community sentiment around booster boxes improved sharply, with a 66.67 score across 6 mentions, and Pokemon Center ETB Plus chatter also turned positive. But expected value data is mixed. Shining Legends packs still look strong at a 3.1x EV ratio and 210% margin, while White Flare sits at 0.95x and Evolutions at just 0.67x. In plain English, collectors want sealed, but not every box or pack deserves the hype.
Evolutions has two different stories right now, and collectors need to separate them.
Mew holo from Evolutions is flying in singles, now at $33.94, and the PSA 10 average sits at a huge $3,227.02. Meanwhile, sealed Evolutions pack EV is weak at 0.67x. That's a clear disconnect. The market is rewarding top-end condition singles and slabs, not casual pack ripping.
Sentiment is cooling on some mega-era names even while adjacent cards rise.
M Rayquaza EX sentiment sank to -80.0, though on just 1 mention, and Mega Charizard EX slipped to -20.0 across 2 mentions. That doesn't fully match the strength in M Mewtwo EX. My read is simple, collectors still want mega cards, but they're getting choosy about which ones have room left after prior runs.
Today's movers90 day trend
Gainers
M Mewtwo EX, BREAKthrough, $37.10, up 146.68% in 30 daysM Mewtwo EX · Pokemon BREAKthroughNM$37.10PSA 10$772.81+7.4%
This is one of the clearest momentum cards in the market right now. The raw price still isn't crazy for a flagship mega, and the PSA 10 average at $772.81 leaves a big quality premium in place. If you find clean copies, don't overthink it.
Mew holo, Evolutions, $33.94, up 146.66%Mew [Holo] · Pokemon EvolutionsNM$33.94PSA 10$3227.02+10.5%
This card is telling the real Evolutions story. Sealed EV looks bad, but top singles are getting chased hard. A PSA 10 average above $3.2k is massive, and it explains why near-mint raws keep getting vacuumed up.
Decidueye GX, Guardians Rising, $36.27, up 144.16%Decidueye GX · Pokemon Guardians RisingNM$36.27PSA 10$232.49+5.9%
Sun & Moon GX cards continue to act better than most people expected. The PSA 10 average is $232.49, so the slab premium isn't as wild as Mew or Mewtwo, but the raw move says collectors are revisiting underloved GX-era hits.
Umbreon V, Eevee Heroes, $35.44, down 47.18%Umbreon V · Pokemon Japanese Eevee HeroesNM$35.44PSA 10$130.49+45.5%
Normally an Umbreon name holds up better than this. A drop this sharp says buyers are price-sensitive even on popular Pokemon if the card isn't the top chase from the set. This is the kind of decline that can create a bounce, but I wouldn't call the bottom yet.
Decliners
Minun, Paradox Rift, $45.60, up 143.81%Minun · Pokemon Paradox RiftNM$45.60PSA 10$276.88-1.6%
This is the weird one, and that's why it's worth watching. Modern cards can move this fast when low supply meets sudden collector attention, but those moves can brick just as fast. I'd treat this as a card to monitor, not chase after a vertical run.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Giovanni's MagikarpGiovanni's Magikarp · Pokemon Japanese Challenge From The DarknessNM$5.81PSA 10$636.10+18.3%
Raw copies average $5.81, while PSA 10s average $636.10. That's a headline ROI of 798%, with a 26.4% gem rate. Even after grading fees and misses, the spread is so wide that this stays attractive if you can inspect condition carefully.
Raichu BREAKRaichu BREAK · Pokemon BREAKthroughNM$10.42PSA 10$675.43+20.5%
Raw is $10.42 and PSA 10 is $675.43, good for 796% ROI with a 28.9% gem rate. That's one of the better modern-era grade plays on today's sheet. BREAK cards still don't get enough love, and this kind of slab premium usually doesn't stay hidden forever.
Bonus look, Tyrogue
Raw at $23.39 and PSA 10 at $496.38 gives 780% ROI, but the real hook is the 43.5% gem rate. That's the best hit rate among today's top opportunities, which matters a lot if you're actually submitting cards instead of just doing spreadsheet math.

Community Pulse

Reddit and social chatter leaned more bullish today, especially around sealed product. Booster box discussion improved the most, with 6 mentions and a 66.67 sentiment score, while Pokemon Center ETB Plus talk also turned positive. People still want to stash sealed, but they're asking harder questions about what actually has good rip value.

On singles, Gengar 1st Edition chatter improved to 57.5 across 4 mentions, which fits the broader move back into recognizable vintage names. On the flip side, M Rayquaza EX and Mega Charizard EX sentiment softened. That's not a full rejection of mega cards, just a sign that collectors are rotating toward cleaner value and away from names that already had their headline run.
