Older singles keep running while pack odds stay bad

Vintage and e-Reader cards climbed again, but ripping modern packs still looks like a losing bet

Today's market looks a lot like yesterday's, and that's the point. Older singles, especially WotC, Neo, and e-Reader names, kept posting huge 30-day gains, while modern pack expected value stayed underwater across the board.
Collectors are still rewarding scarcity and grade upside. If you're choosing between buying the card or ripping for it, the numbers keep saying the same thing, buy the single.
Top stories
Vintage and e-Reader cards are still leading the board.
The biggest movers weren't random modern hits. Sunkern from Skyridge jumped 149.57% to $9.89, Totodile 1st Edition from Neo Genesis climbed 149.45% to $13.25, Dark Dragonite 1st Edition from Team Rocket rose 146.44% to $70, and Expedition Charizard gained 146.3% to $169.54. That's a clean signal that buyers are still chasing older cardboard with low supply and real slab upside, not just the latest rip target.
Cheap raw cards with big PSA 10 ceilings are getting noticed.
Several of the top gainers still have a huge spread between raw and gem mint pricing. Dangerous Drill is only $5.42 raw, but PSA 10 copies average $213.49. Altaria from Silver Tempest sits at $5.95 raw with a PSA 10 average of $187.87. Oricorio GX from Cosmic Eclipse is $6.81 raw versus $100.67 in PSA 10. That kind of gap pulls in graders fast, especially when raw supply starts drying up.
Modern sealed still doesn't work if your plan is to rip.
The best pack math today is still bad. Destined Rivals has a 0.73x pack EV ratio, Journey Together is at 0.72x, and Crown Zenith sits at 0.65x. In plain English, expected card value is still 27% to 35% below pack cost in the best cases we have. Yesterday's story holds up, singles are beating sealed on value unless you're buying boxes to stash.
Sentiment is getting selective, and not every big name is safe.
Charizard sentiment turned sharply negative at -60, even with only one tracked mention, while Dark Gyarados Reverse Holo slid to -48.57 across 7 mentions. Jolteon ex also leaned negative at -18.22 with 18 mentions, which matters more because the sample is bigger. By contrast, Mega Gardevoir EX sentiment improved to 70. That's a small sample too, but it shows collectors are still willing to rotate attention into older EX-era cards when pricing feels right.
One promo got hit hard, and it looks like a reality check.
Snorlax from Sword & Shield Promos dropped 50% over 30 days to $46.93, with PSA 10 averaging $128. That's not a normal drift lower, that's air coming out fast. Compared with the broad strength in older singles, this looks less like market-wide weakness and more like a promo that got ahead of itself.
Today's movers90 day trend
Gainers
Dark Dragonite 1st Edition, $70, up 146.44%Dark Dragonite [1st Edition] · Pokemon Team RocketNM$70.00PSA 10$1365.39+7.8%
This one looks healthier. Team Rocket 1st Edition still has broad collector appeal, and $70 raw doesn't feel crazy with PSA 10 copies averaging $1,365.39. If clean raws keep getting pulled off the market for grading, the raw price likely has more room.
Oricorio GX, $6.81, up 146.55%Oricorio GX · Pokemon Cosmic EclipseNM$6.81PSA 10$100.67+15.1%
Cosmic Eclipse keeps producing these weird little runners. At this price, the move is less about play demand and more about collector cleanup plus grading math. Cheap entry, recognizable set, and a PSA 10 average over $100 is enough to wake people up.
Snorlax Sword & Shield Promo, $46.93, down 50%Snorlax · Pokemon Sword & Shield PromosNM$46.93PSA 10$128.00+45.9%
This is the clearest loser on the board. Unless you think demand snaps back hard, this looks like a card to leave alone for now. Falling knives can stay falling longer than people expect.
Decliners
Totodile 1st Edition, $13.25, up 149.45%Totodile [1st Edition] · Pokemon Neo GenesisNM$13.25PSA 10$574.76-1.7%
Neo starters and starter lines have been quietly stronger than many people expected. This is exactly the kind of low-dollar vintage card that gets ignored until clean copies vanish. With PSA 10 at $574.76, the market is finally paying attention.
Also watching
Expedition Charizard, $169.54, up 146.3% in 30 days
This is the card everyone will talk about first, but the sentiment data says be careful on entry. Price strength confirms buyers still want vintage Charizard, yet the sharp sentiment drop says some collectors think the move has gone too far too fast. Great card, bad card to chase blindly after a near-vertical run.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Bayleef Reverse HoloBayleef [Reverse Holo] · Pokemon Unseen ForcesNM$19.99PSA 10$763.50+14.1%
Raw copies average $19.99, while PSA 10 copies average $763.50. That's a 798% ROI on paper, with a 21.0% gem rate. The gem rate isn't easy, but the upside is big enough that sharp buyers should be screening copies carefully. This is the kind of vintage reverse holo where condition discipline matters more than volume.
Zubat Reverse HoloZubat [Reverse Holo] · Pokemon Delta SpeciesNM$21.90PSA 10$769.98+4.2%
Raw is $21.90 and PSA 10 is $769.98, good for a 786% ROI, with a 26.4% gem rate. That's one of the better mixes of upside and hit rate in today's grading list. Not easy money, but much more practical than some low-pop moonshots.
Worth a side look, M Glalie EX
Raw sits at $17.94 and PSA 10 averages $448.69, a 781% ROI, but the gem rate is only 18.2%. Big reward, tougher road. I'd rather buy this one raw in person than gamble on random online copies.

Community Pulse

Conversation still leans toward older singles, especially vintage names with big PSA 10 spreads. The mood is positive on underpriced EX-era and WotC cards, while sentiment is weaker on cards that already made a sharp move or promos that feel overcooked.

The most meaningful social signal today is Jolteon ex turning negative across 18 mentions. That's enough volume to matter. Charizard also turned negative, but with only one mention, I wouldn't overread it. Mega Gardevoir EX getting a positive swing tells you collectors are still bargain hunting in older eras, not just piling into the same two mascot names.
