Older singles keep running while sealed stays soft

Big gains hit promos and tough PSA 10 cards as booster box talk cools off

The split market from yesterday is still the story today. Older singles, niche promos, and hard-to-gem cards kept ripping higher, while sealed product chatter stayed weak and most modern pack EV still looks upside down.

The numbers back that up pretty cleanly. Four quality-filtered gainers were up roughly 148% to 149% over 30 days, and three of them fit the same pattern, low supply, collector appeal, and a big PSA 10 gap. On the sealed side, sentiment around booster boxes slipped again, and both Journey Together and Destined Rivals are still sitting at just 0.72x pack EV.

Gainers

Gardevoir EX, Steam Siege, $107.47, +148.08%Gardevoir EX · Pokemon Steam SiegeNM$107.47PSA 10$1872.23+11.0%

This looks like a classic catch-up move on a tough older chase card. The PSA 10 average at $1,872.23 is doing a lot of the work here. Raw buyers are paying up because the upside on pristine copies is massive, and clean examples aren’t easy to find anymore.

Rayquaza V, Evolving Skies, $3.24, +149.23%Rayquaza V · Pokemon Evolving SkiesNM$3.24PSA 10$190.61+35.7%

This one needs context. The raw price is still tiny, so a big percentage move doesn’t mean the card is suddenly expensive. The real story is the PSA 10 average at $190.61. If you’ve got clean binder copies, this is worth a second look.

Reshiram GX, Dragon Majesty, $33.53, -49.69%Reshiram GX · Pokemon Dragon MajestyNM$33.53PSA 10$264.63+14.6%

This drop matters because it pushes back against the idea that all nostalgic or premium cards are climbing. Demand is still there, but buyers are choosing their spots. If you liked this card before, wait for the chart to settle before stepping in.

Decliners

Maushold, Paldea Evolved, $97.52, +147.62%Maushold · Pokemon Paldea EvolvedNM$97.52PSA 10$1418.87-11.0%

This is one of the stranger movers, which usually means it’s real. Weird cards can become collector favorites fast when supply dries up. A PSA 10 average of $1,418.87 says the top-end market has already accepted this as more than a random modern hit.

PokePark’s Mudkip, Japanese Promo, $229.99, +149.4%

This is the strongest move on the board to me. Promo collectors are aggressive when they smell scarcity, and the PSA 10 average of $2,492.85 gives this card a trophy-like ceiling. I wouldn’t chase ugly raws here, but strong copies still make sense.

Dark WigglytuffDark Wigglytuff · Pokemon Japanese Darkness, and to LightNM$5.28PSA 10$625.00+3.1%

Raw copies average $5.28, PSA 10 averages $625. That’s a 789% ROI, even before you get too cute with subgrades and timing. The gem rate is 20.9%, so this is not free money, but the math is good enough that clean copies in old collections deserve a hard look.

Cyndaquil [1st Edition]Cyndaquil [1st Edition] · Pokemon Neo GenesisNM$14.89PSA 10$425.00-1.3%

Raw is $14.89, PSA 10 is $425, for a 788% ROI. Gem rate is 17.3%, which keeps this from being an easy slam dunk, but that’s exactly why the PSA 10 stays valuable. If you can source near-pack-fresh copies, this is still one of the better grading setups on the board.

Community Pulse

Social chatter stayed mixed, but the direction is useful. Umbreon Prime sentiment improved to 54.0 across 5 mentions, which tells me vintage and HGSS-era nostalgia is still alive and getting louder. Team Rocket’s Moltres ex also ticked up to a 70.0 sentiment score, even on light volume, and that fits the broader appetite for iconic character cards with collector-first appeal.

On the other side, booster box sentiment kept slipping. One booster box read came in at 0.0, another at -45.0, and prerelease booster box sentiment hit -20.0. Small sample size, sure, but it matches the EV data. People are getting more selective about sealed, and they should be.
