Old GX cards keep ripping while sealed stays weak

Dragonite, Gyarados, and Zeraora jump hard as pack EV still trails pack prices

Today’s market still looks split, just like yesterday, but the move into older singles got even louder. GX-era cards and a few thin-supply side pieces are ripping higher, while sealed pack math keeps getting worse, with 30th Celebration slipping to 0.91x EV and newer product still looking like a bad rip.
The biggest tell is simple: collectors are paying up for specific chase cards, not broad product exposure. That usually means selective strength, not a full market-wide breakout.
Top stories
GX cards are leading the market again, and this time it’s not just one card.
Gyarados GX from Crimson Invasion is up 148.31% in 30 days to $20.00. Dragonite GX from Unified Minds has climbed 149.7% to $18.56. Zeraora GX from Lost Thunder is up 147.2% to $83.44. That’s too broad to dismiss as a random blip. Buyers are clearly reaching into older Sun and Moon-era cards where supply is thinner and replacement copies aren’t easy to shake loose. The graded gap is still huge too, with PSA 10 averages at $693.47 for Gyarados GX, $362.57 for Dragonite GX, and $485.82 for Zeraora GX. Raw cards moved first, and slabs still support the story.
Evolving Skies keeps losing ground in at least one key single.
Umbreon VMAX fell 49.43% over 30 days to $27.77, while PSA 10 sits at $142.04. That’s a sharp reset for one of the most watched names in the hobby. If this were broad Eevee demand, you’d expect social chatter to hold up, but sentiment around Eevee-themed discussion is also slipping. This looks less like panic selling and more like buyers refusing to chase mid-tier copies after a long premium run.
Small cards are moving like chase cards, which usually means supply is thin.
Ninetales BREAK from Evolutions is up 148.57% to $4.93. Rockruff from Silver Tempest gained 148.38% to $6.48, and Altaria from Silver Tempest rose 148.06% to $5.09. These aren’t headline grails, but they are exactly the kind of cards that can spike when binder supply dries up and collectors start filling gaps. The fact that two Silver Tempest cards are on the list at once says people are shopping deeper into modern set checklists, not just top-end alts.
Pack EV got worse, not better.
Yesterday, 30th Celebration was the only set in the green at 1.11x EV. Today it’s down to 0.91x, a negative 9% margin. Crown Zenith remains weak at 0.62x, and White Flare is worse at 0.53x. That’s a big shift in one day for 30th Celebration and a clear warning sign for anyone ripping sealed hoping to come out ahead. The singles market is where the money is being made right now, not the packs.
Social sentiment is cooling on some flashy names.
Mega Dragonite ex posted a sentiment score of -49.39 across 90 mentions, the biggest meaningful sentiment drop in today’s feed. Mega Charizard Y ex also slipped to -24.0, while Ho-Oh improved to 60.0, though on only one mention, so I wouldn’t overread that. The main takeaway is that attention isn’t always translating into confidence. A lot of talk around newer Mega cards looks more skeptical than excited.
Today's movers90 day trend
Gainers
Dragonite GX, Unified Minds, $18.56, up 149.7% in 30 daysDragonite GX · Pokemon Unified MindsNM$18.56PSA 10$362.57+3.1%
This looks like one of the cleaner moves on the board. Dragonite has broad collector appeal, Unified Minds wasn’t exactly printed yesterday, and the PSA 10 average at $362.57 gives the raw card room to keep climbing if near-mint supply stays tight. I wouldn’t call it cheap anymore, but it still doesn’t look finished.
Zeraora GX, Lost Thunder, $83.44, up 147.2%Zeraora GX · Pokemon Lost ThunderNM$83.44PSA 10$485.82+10.8%
This is the priciest riser in today’s group, so it matters more. At over $80 raw, buyers are making a real commitment here. That usually means either true scarcity or a card that the market suddenly decided was underpriced. Given the PSA 10 average is only $485.82, I’d be careful chasing after this kind of vertical move.
Decliners
Gyarados GX, Crimson Invasion, $20.00, up 148.31%Gyarados GX · Pokemon Crimson InvasionNM$20.00PSA 10$693.47-5.2%
Crimson Invasion has never been a favorite sealed hold, which actually helps singles when fewer clean copies get tucked away. A $693.47 PSA 10 average says high-grade demand is real. This move looks supply-driven first, nostalgia-driven second.
Umbreon VMAX, Evolving Skies, $27.77, down 49.43%Umbreon VMAX · Pokemon Evolving SkiesNM$27.77PSA 10$142.04-5.5%
This is the card to watch on the downside. If it stabilizes here, bargain hunters will step in fast because Umbreon always has a fan base. If it keeps sliding, that’s a sign buyers are reassessing a whole tier of modern chase cards, not just one listing cluster.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
GreninjaGreninja · Pokemon Unbroken BondsNM$26.77PSA 10$2545.93+37.5%
Raw copies are averaging $26.77, while PSA 10 is averaging $2,545.93. That’s a headline ROI of 794%, with a 23.4% gem rate. The spread is massive, and even after grading fees there’s serious upside on truly clean copies. This is not a bulk submission card, though. Condition has to be sharp, because three out of four won’t gem.
Gardevoir [1st Edition]Gardevoir [1st Edition] · Pokemon Japanese Galactic's ConquestNM$15.94PSA 10$436.82+20.0%
Raw is $15.94, PSA 10 is $436.82, and ROI sits at 793% with a 44.3% gem rate. That gem rate is what makes this one stand out. The upside is still huge, but the hit rate is much more forgiving than the flashier modern names. For submitters who want a better balance between ceiling and odds, this is one of the best numbers on the board today.

Community Pulse

Reddit and social chatter look mixed, but the tone is pretty clear. People are more excited about finding older GX cards and random under-the-radar singles than they are about cracking current sealed. Sentiment around Mega Dragonite ex turned sharply negative, with 90 mentions and a -49.39 score, which tells me collectors are talking about it a lot but not buying the story.

There’s also some fatigue showing around familiar hype names. Mega Charizard Y ex sentiment dipped, Eevee-related chatter softened, and there’s not much evidence that social buzz is lifting those cards right now. The crowd seems more interested in overlooked cards that haven’t already been priced to the moon.
