Older singles led while weak modern cards slipped

GX, Tag Team, promos, and Delta Species ran hot as sealed buyers stuck with Shining Legends

This week had a very clear split. Collectors kept bidding up older singles, from WoTC promos and 1st Edition vintage to Delta Species, GX, and Tag Team cards, while newer cards with bigger supply kept getting marked down. Sealed buyers were picky too, Shining Legends stayed far ahead on pack value all week at roughly 3.04x to 3.09x EV, while White Flare sat around break-even or worse and products like Evolutions and Crown Zenith continued to look weak for ripping.
This week's movers90 day trend
Gainers
Latios GX, Unified Minds, $12.52, up 5.6% on the weekLatios GX · Pokemon Unified MindsNM$12.52+34.6%
This lines up perfectly with Sunday’s Sun and Moon surge. The bigger 30-day move was already 148.83%, and the weekly gain says buyers were still stepping in late, not taking profits yet. At this price, the low entry still helps.
White Kyurem EX, Plasma Storm, $5.15, up 5.1% on the weekWhite Kyurem EX · Pokemon Plasma StormNM$5.15+7.2%
Saturday explained this one well. It’s a tiny raw entry with a big PSA 10 ceiling, $205.29, and that combo keeps bargain hunters interested. This is the kind of older card that can keep climbing longer than people expect because it still feels cheap.
Guzzlord GX, Crimson Invasion, $8.30, up 4.4% on the weekGuzzlord GX · Pokemon Crimson InvasionNM$8.30+19.6%
Another card tied to the late-week GX push. Sunday made the bigger point, collectors are finally revisiting older GX cards that were ignored for years. This isn’t just a Glaceon story.
Decliners
Mega Lucario ex promo, $11.76, down 11.2% on the weekMega Lucario ex · Pokemon Mega Evolution PromoNM$11.76-35.5%
This was one of the clearest losers from the modern cooldown. Tuesday already showed the 30-day drop, and the weekly number confirms the trend didn’t stop. Buyers moved on fast once the early promo excitement faded.
Scizor WoTC Promo, $15.95, down 5.3% on the weekScizor · Pokemon WoTC PromosNM$15.95-10.9%
This one is more interesting than the average loser. Sunday pointed out the PSA 10 average at $641.70, which is a huge spread over raw. If you’re hunting clean copies, this is the kind of falling older promo that can get scooped up quickly once supply dries.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Sabrina’s Gastly 1st EditionSabrina's Gastly [1st Edition] · Pokemon Gym ChallengeNM$12.13PSA 10$402.50+41.9%
Raw is $12.13, PSA 10 is $402.50, for a 792% ROI. This was one of the cleanest vintage grading setups of the week because the entry is low and the upside is real. You still need to be picky on centering and surface, but the math works.
Chansey 1st EditionChansey [1st Edition] · Pokemon Japanese Expedition Expansion PackNM$8.36PSA 10$365.00+6.1%
Raw is $8.36, PSA 10 is $365.00, for a 783% ROI. The big plus here is the 46.0% gem rate from Sunday’s brief. That’s better than a lot of the flashy vintage names and makes this feel more practical than most cherry-pick plays.
Worth a side glance, Nidoran from Aquapolis
Raw is $11.04, PSA 10 is $391.35, for 789% ROI. Cheap buy-in, strong slab spread, and Aquapolis still gets respect. This looks like a solid targeted sub if you know how to screen condition.

Community Pulse

The community spent most of the week talking about nostalgia, anniversary reveals, and which older cards still looked cheap. Sentiment was positive around Mega Charizard EX early in the week after the February MEGA x MEGA Parade reveal, then cooled hard later, dropping to -60.0 by Friday and staying weak into the weekend. That wasn’t panic, it looked more like buyers pushing back on higher asks.

Broad sealed talk also softened. Booster box sentiment ended negative at -46.67, which fits the week’s EV story. People still want sealed, they just want the right sealed. Shining Legends got respect. White Flare and generic modern boxes didn’t.

On the singles side, Mew was one of the cleaner positive stories, with sentiment improving to 60 alongside Mew Reverse Holo’s run to $27.75, up 143.96% over 30 days. Team Rocket’s Meowth also flipped positive on light mentions late in the week, another small sign that collectors were poking around older character cards instead of chasing fresh release hype.
