5 facts about this card
Card History
This Eevee is one of the original Wizards of the Coast-era Jungle cards, the second main English Pokémon TCG expansion released on June 16, 1999, which gives 1st Edition copies a direct link to the hobby’s earliest boom years.
Set Lore
Eevee’s inclusion in Jungle was a perfect thematic fit, since the set spotlighted Kanto Pokémon and was described as taking place in the Safari Zone era of the franchise’s earliest worldbuilding.
In-Game
The card’s flavor text echoes Eevee’s original Pokédex lore from Pokémon Red and Blue, where its ‘irregular’ genetic code explains why it became the franchise’s signature evolution Pokémon.
Artist
The artwork is by Kagemaru Himeno, one of the most recognizable early Pokémon TCG illustrators, whose soft watercolor style helped define the storybook look collectors associate with vintage cards.
Card History
Jungle Eevee was important enough to be reused in later products, including Legendary Collection, showing how this specific early pose and design remained part of Eevee’s collectible identity beyond its first release.
