Tornadus EX Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Card History
Tornadus-EX was introduced in Dark Explorers as both a regular Ultra Rare and a Full Art, giving collectors two distinct Black & White-era chase versions of the same card in one set.
Artist
This regular print is the Shizurow illustration, while the set’s Full Art Tornadus-EX was handled by 5ban Graphics, making this version the more creature-focused artwork of the pair.
Card History
The card depicts Tornadus in its Incarnate Forme, the same form that made a dramatic anime debut in 'Stopping the Rage of Legends! Part 1' before clashing with Thundurus and being calmed by Landorus.
Set Lore
Dark Explorers released in English on May 9, 2012 and continued the Black & White push of Generation V Pokémon and Pokémon-EX, placing Tornadus-EX right in the middle of the era’s early EX revival.
In-Game
Because Dark Explorers is based on Pokémon Black and White’s Generation V lineup, Tornadus-EX carries the identity of one of Unova’s roaming legendary forces into the BW-era TCG spotlight.
