Aurorus Card Facts & History

5 facts about this card

Card History

Aurorus from Forbidden Light is a Stage 2 Water-type Rare Holo whose Frost Wall attack uniquely blocks all damage from Evolution Pokémon on your opponent’s next turn, giving this fossil Pokémon a very thematic defensive niche.

In-Game

This card’s flavor text is lifted from Pokémon Y, where Aurorus is described as using diamond-shaped crystals to instantly raise a wall of ice, directly inspiring the card’s icy, defensive identity.

Set Lore

Forbidden Light launched on May 4, 2018 and was positioned as a continuation of the Sun & Moon—Ultra Prism storyline, making this Aurorus part of a set remembered for its mysterious, light-versus-dark atmosphere around Ultra Necrozma.

Artist

Collectors who enjoy softer, storybook-style Pokémon art often recognize Suwama Chiaki’s work immediately, and Bulbapedia notes that her illustrations are known for soft shading and light colors.

Card History

Blizzard Burn gives this card a bit of TCG lineage too, because Bulbapedia notes the attack name first appeared on Kyurem from Plasma Freeze before being reused here on Aurorus.
