Set Lore
Houndour’s holo rare appears in Neo Discovery, the ninth English Pokémon TCG set, a 75-card Johto-era release from June 2001 whose theme drew from the mysterious ruins seen in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
In-Game
Houndour itself has a great Gen II oddity behind it: despite debuting in Pokémon Gold and Silver as a new Johto Pokémon, it was actually encountered in Kanto’s Route 7 at night, which made it feel unusually hidden for a fresh species.
