Giratina EX Card Facts & History

Card History
This Ancient Origins printing is one of the few XY-era Giratina cards built specifically to punish Mega Evolution decks, since Renegade Pulse blocks all damage and effects from your opponent’s Mega Evolution Pokémon.
Card History
Chaos Wheel gave Giratina-EX a uniquely oppressive control angle in the TCG by locking Pokémon Tool, Special Energy, and Stadium cards out of the opponent’s hand for a turn after it attacked.
In-Game
The artwork shows Giratina in its Origin Forme, the form described as its true form, which it keeps in the Distortion World or while holding a Griseous Orb.
Set Lore
Giratina-EX comes from XY—Ancient Origins, the 2015 expansion that officially includes it as card 57 in a set remembered for Pokémon-EX, Ancient Traits, and headline legendaries like Hoopa-EX and Lugia-EX.
Artist
Its illustrator credit goes to PLANETA, the Japanese CG-focused studio known for producing 3D-style Pokémon TCG artwork, which gives this Giratina-EX its dramatic, high-impact rendered look.
