Rocket's Mewtwo EX Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Card History
Rocket's Mewtwo ex is a rare case of Mewtwo being printed as a Darkness-type card, a deliberate twist that sells its corruption under Team Rocket rather than its usual Psychic identity.
Card History
This card draws on the era when Giovanni briefly controlled Mewtwo in the anime, giving collectors a cardboard snapshot of one of Team Rocket's most dangerous what-if power plays.
Card History
Its attack lineup is a direct callback to Giovanni's Rocket's Mewtwo from Gym Challenge, reworking Hypnoblast and Psyburn while turning the old Juxtapose concept into Darkness Switch.
Set Lore
Rocket's Mewtwo ex comes from EX Team Rocket Returns, a set built around Team Rocket's comeback and even headlined by Mewtwo on one of the English booster pack artworks.
Artist
The artwork is by Mitsuhiro Arita, one of the most iconic illustrators in Pokémon TCG history, which gives this card extra cachet for collectors who chase landmark names as much as landmark Pokémon.
