This Comic-Con stamped Pikachu is a true event variant of EX Emerald #60, handed out at San Diego Comic-Con from July 15–17, 2005, giving a common card one of the coolest convention-exclusive twists of the ex era.
Card History
Within EX Emerald’s additional promos, Pikachu #60 sits alongside other location-tied releases like Wizard World and Gen Con cards, which makes this stamped version feel like part of a traveling 2005 convention circuit for Pokémon collectors.
In-Game
Its attack Thundershock directly references the video-game move Thunder Shock that Pikachu can learn, so the card preserves a classic battle identity that fans knew from the games long before modern flashy mechanics took over.
Artist
The artwork is by Masakazu Fukuda, and the simple, energetic pose pairs perfectly with the Comic-Con stamp, making the card feel like a humble set common elevated into a memorable event collectible.
Cultural Impact
Because Pikachu is the franchise mascot and one of the most recognizable figures in Japanese pop culture, a convention-exclusive Pikachu instantly carries more crossover appeal than most ex-era stamped promos.
