Elekid Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Card History
This Elekid is one of the ex-era cards built around the Baby Evolution mechanic, letting it jump straight into Electabuzz from your hand and heal all damage at the same time, which gives the card a distinctly old-school rules identity collectors instantly recognize.
Set Lore
Elekid fits EX Unseen Forces perfectly because the set was themed around Johto nostalgia, drawing from Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal while spotlighting Generation I and II Pokémon in the ex era.
Artist
The card’s charm is amplified by Yuka Morii, an artist beloved by collectors for her handcrafted clay-style Pokémon artwork, making this Elekid feel especially playful and tactile beside more traditional ex-era illustrations.
In-Game
Elekid itself is a Generation II Baby Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, and this card cleverly mirrors the games by treating Electabuzz as the next step in its evolutionary line.
Card History
For anime fans, Elekid is best remembered as Paul’s early powerhouse in Diamond & Pearl, where it battled Ash’s Pikachu before eventually growing into Electabuzz and later Electivire.
