Rayquaza δ is one of the original Delta Species holos from EX Delta Species, reimagining Rayquaza as an unusual Lightning/Metal-type instead of its usual Dragon-associated identity, which is exactly the kind of type-shift that made the Holon era so memorable to collectors.
Set Lore
This card comes from EX Delta Species, the 2005 set that introduced Delta Species cards and tied them to Holon Research Tower, where an experiment with electromagnetic waves supposedly created these strange alternate-typed Pokémon.
In-Game
Rayquaza feels especially fitting for this set because in Pokémon Emerald it is the legendary found at Sky Pillar and summoned to stop Groudon and Kyogre’s clash, cementing it as Hoenn’s sky guardian in the games.
Card History
For anime fans, Rayquaza had already built major mystique before this card released by starring in Destiny Deoxys, where it battles the alien Mythical Pokémon Deoxys in one of the franchise’s most iconic legendary showdowns.
