Cheap vintage promos are moving while 151 keeps sliding

Electabuzz jumps hard, Caterpie cools off, and Shining Legends still leads pack value

Today's market still feels split, but the split is getting clearer. Older promo singles and tough-to-find vintage oddballs are catching bids, while modern cards that ran too far, especially from Scarlet & Violet 151, are still getting marked down.
Sealed math hasn't changed much from yesterday. Shining Legends remains one of the few rip products where the pack value still looks strong at 3.04x EV, while White Flare at 0.97x and Evolutions at 0.68x still don't justify cracking boxes unless you're chasing nostalgia or a specific hit.
Top stories
Electabuzz promo is the clearest winner on the board.
Electabuzz from WoTC Promos is up 149.8% over the last 30 days, now at $44.68, with PSA 10 copies averaging $306.06. That's not a broad vintage breakout, it's a supply story. Cheap old promos can move fast when a few clean copies disappear, and this one looks like collectors finally noticed how thin the market is.
Scarlet & Violet 151 is still giving back gains.
Caterpie from 151 dropped 48.78% in 30 days to $19.67, even with a PSA 10 average of $209.18. That tells you raw buyers got ahead of themselves. The slab premium is still real, but raw copies are being repriced lower as more supply hits and buyers get pickier on condition.
Early 30th Celebration reveals are helping sealed interest more than singles, for now.
Newly revealed Alolan Exeggutor and Scraggy cards, plus confirmation of an alternate art Alolan Exeggutor promo in the Tech Sticker Collection, give collectors a better reason to watch September 16 product launches. Right now this is more of a sealed and promo story than a singles spike story. Early reveal cycles usually lift preorder chatter first, then singles react once pull rates and print depth are clearer.
Social chatter around Charizard is mixed, not bullish.
Dark Charizard 1st Edition sentiment fell by 30 points, and Charizard GX also turned negative at -39.5. On the flip side, Mega Charizard EX sentiment improved sharply to 82.5. That's a pretty clean tell that collectors aren't buying every Charizard equally right now. They're getting selective, and older trophy-tier names aren't automatically dragging the whole Zard market up.
Pack value still says don't rip blindly.
Shining Legends leads the best EV list at 3.04x, which is excellent and backs up continued sealed demand. White Flare sits at 0.97x, basically break-even before fees and misses, and Evolutions is way lower at 0.68x. That contradiction matters. Nostalgia is still selling sealed boxes, but the pack math only supports opening a small number of products.
Today's movers90 day trend
Electabuzz, WoTC Promos, $44.68, up 149.8% in 30 daysElectabuzz · Pokemon WoTC PromosNM$44.68PSA 10$306.06+17.0%
This is the move that matters most today. It's not being pushed by a headline, which usually means the run came from low supply and a handful of determined buyers. With PSA 10 at $306.06, the raw-to-gem spread is still wide enough that near-mint copies won't stay cheap if demand sticks for another week.
Caterpie, Scarlet & Violet 151, $19.67, down 48.78%Caterpie · Pokemon Scarlet & Violet 151NM$19.67PSA 10$209.18+3.2%
This looks like a reset after a hype-driven run. The PSA 10 average at $209.18 shows high-grade demand still exists, but raw sellers are having to come down fast. If you're buying 151, be picky. Don't pay up for raw copies unless centering and edges look gem-clean.
Articuno, WoTC Promos, $20.00, down 48.35%Articuno · Pokemon WoTC PromosNM$20.00PSA 10$185.95+9.2%
Interesting contrast with Electabuzz. Same broad promo bucket, very different result. That usually means the market is rewarding scarcer demand pockets, not lifting every old promo together. Articuno at $20 could attract bargain hunters if clean copies dry up.
Muk, Aquapolis, $17.54, down 48.16%Muk · Pokemon AquapolisNM$17.54PSA 10$352.47+17.4%
Aquapolis cards at this level always get my attention. Even with the drop, PSA 10 average is $352.47. E-reader collectors don't need much to push niche cards around, and this one is now back in impulse-buy territory for raw hunters.
Grading spotlight90 day trend
Pikachu, raw $13.50, PSA 10 $700.00Pikachu · Pokemon EmeraldNM$13.50PSA 10$700.00-8.6%
On paper the ROI is huge at 792%. The catch is the gem rate is only 24.7%, so this isn't a bulk submission play. It's a cherry-pick play. If you can source truly clean copies in person, the upside is real. If you're buying blind online, you'll burn money fast.
Absol Reverse Holo, raw $5.01, PSA 10 $338.00Absol [Reverse Holo] · Pokemon Team UpNM$5.01PSA 10$338.00+13.6%
This is the cleaner risk-reward setup today. ROI sits at 789% and the gem rate is 40.0%, which is much healthier. At a five-dollar raw entry, this is the kind of card that works well in a targeted sub if you know the era and can spot print lines before you buy.
Dark Gyarados, raw $23.50, PSA 10 $785.00Dark Gyarados · Pokemon Team Rocket ReturnsNM$23.50PSA 10$785.00+15.1%
ROI is 787%, but the 16.1% gem rate is rough. Great upside, brutal miss rate. I'd only touch this if the copy is already in hand and looks pack-fresh under bright light.

Community Pulse

Social chatter is leaning negative on a few popular names. Mewtwo Master Ball had the most discussion of the tracked cards with 13 mentions, but sentiment came in at -36.15, which suggests buyers are pushing back on current ask prices rather than chasing copies higher.

Charizard conversation also cooled overall. Dark Charizard 1st Edition and Charizard GX both slipped into negative sentiment, while Mega Charizard EX picked up positive traction. That's a collector market, not a broad panic or broad rally. People still want big names, they're just being choosy about which version deserves the money.

There was also some softer tone around premium boxed product, with Pokemon Center ETB Plus sentiment at -60.0. That fits the current sealed picture. Buyers still like sealed, but they don't want to overpay for every fancy box just because it's exclusive.
