Thundurus EX Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Set Lore
Thundurus-EX feels especially at home in Plasma Freeze because the set’s story spotlights Team Plasma’s icy campaign in Unova and even names Thundurus-EX among the flagship Team Plasma Pokémon in the expansion blurb.
Card History
This card is more than just a standard Ultra Rare hit, because Plasma Freeze also gave Thundurus-EX a full-art counterpart at #110, making #38 the regular-art version collectors often pair with its flashier sibling.
Card History
Thundurus earned real anime gravitas when Giovanni used the Reveal Glass to force the Forces of Nature into Therian Forme during Unova’s climactic Team Rocket storyline, giving this Team Plasma-tagged EX a strong villain-era connection.
Cultural Impact
Collectors love Thundurus lore because Bulbapedia notes it was inspired by Raijin, the Japanese god of thunder, which gives this EX card a mythic storm-deity edge beyond its in-game Legendary status.
Artist
Eske Yoshinob is known for sleek 3DCG Pokémon card illustration work, and that polished digital style suits Thundurus-EX perfectly by making its storm-charged body look fast, metallic, and larger than life.
