Pichu Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Set Lore
Pichu’s Neo Genesis holo sits in the very first English set to introduce Johto Pokémon to the TCG, which gives this card a true 'new generation' feel for collectors who remember the jump from Kanto to Gold and Silver.
Card History
This card is part of the short-lived Baby Pokémon era, and its Baby Pokémon rule could literally make an opponent’s attack fail on a coin flip before the attack even happened.
In-Game
Pichu itself was a Gen II reveal from Pokémon Gold and Silver, where it helped define the new idea of baby pre-evolutions and evolves into Pikachu through friendship rather than a level-up.
Card History
Pichu got an early spotlight in the theatrical short Pikachu & Pichu, where the mischievous Pichu Brothers debuted alongside Spell of the Unown: Entei, strengthening Pichu’s identity as one of Johto’s cutest breakout stars.
Artist
The artwork is by Ken Sugimori, Pokémon’s original character designer, which gives this holo an extra layer of historical appeal beyond its gameplay and rarity.
