This non-holo Houndoom is part of Neo Discovery’s unusual English expansion choice to add non-holofoil versions of cards that were holo rares in the same set, giving collectors a second way to chase one of Johto’s most intimidating early Dark-type Pokémon.

Houndoom itself was introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver as Pokédex #229, so this card captures one of the original Generation II monsters that made Johto feel darker and more dangerous than the first era of Pokémon.
