Altaria ex Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Card History
Altaria ex #253 is the Special Illustration Rare version of the card from Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift, and Bulbapedia notes that this print specifically uses unique artwork by Jiro Sasumo instead of the standard art shared by the other versions.
Artist
Collectors who chase illustrator pedigrees may love this card even more, because Jiro Sasumo entered the Pokémon TCG after winning the 2nd Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix.
In-Game
Altaria’s signature identity in the games is its dreamlike singing, with multiple Pokédex entries describing it as a beautiful soprano whose melodies can leave listeners in a dreamy state—an elegant match for this card’s calm, storybook-style art.
Set Lore
Paradox Rift is built around timelines colliding with Ancient and Future Pokémon, so a serene Special Illustration Rare like Altaria ex stands out as one of the set’s softer visual centerpieces amid a famously high-energy expansion theme.
Card History
Bulbapedia traces Light Pulse’s design lineage back to the move Light Wave from Light Dragonite in Neo Destiny, giving this Altaria ex attack a neat callback to an older era of the Pokémon TCG.
