Mew Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Card History
This Expedition Base Set Mew is part of the very first main Pokémon e-Card expansion, a landmark set that introduced the wider borders and dot-code strips used with the Nintendo e-Reader.
Card History
Mew’s printed attack, Super Psywave, punishes heavily loaded targets by turning the number of Energy cards on an opponent’s Pokémon directly into damage counters, giving this tiny Basic a sneaky control feel collectors still remember.
Set Lore
Like other Expedition cards, this Mew could unlock extra e-Reader content, including a hidden attack called Strange Wave that was not legal for tournament play.
Artist
For collectors who chase illustrator history, Hajime Kusajima’s first English Pokémon cards arrived in Expedition Base Set, making this Mew part of his English-language debut era.
In-Game
The e-Reader data tied to this card uses Mew’s classic Pokédex idea that it may be the ancestor of all Pokémon, a piece of game lore that adds mythic weight to an already iconic card.
