Mew Card Facts & History
5 facts about this card
Set Lore
Mew closes the main Celebrations set at 25/25, a fitting choice for a 25th-anniversary expansion built to spotlight some of the franchise’s most beloved Pokémon and TCG memories.
Card History
This card’s Mysterious Tail Ability lets you dig for an Item card from the top six cards of your deck while Mew is Active, giving the anniversary mascot a real utility role instead of making it a pure binder piece.
In-Game
Its flavor text comes straight from Mew’s classic Pokédex lore—that its DNA contains the genetic codes of all Pokémon—which is why collectors instantly connect this card to Mew’s long-running mystique in the games.
Artist
Saki Hayashiro’s artwork gives this Mew a dreamy, celebratory look that matches the set’s milestone feel, helping the gold Secret Rare stand apart from more traditional Mew card poses.
Cultural Impact
Mew has been used before as a centerpiece for milestone products, including the Mythical Pokémon Collection released for Pokémon’s 20th celebration, which makes its starring Secret Rare role in Celebrations feel especially intentional.
