What are Electric-types strong against?
Electric moves are super effective against Water and Flying, dealing double damage to those types. They deal reduced damage to Electric, Grass, and Dragon. They have no effect at all on Ground.

Electric-type history
Electric is one of the 15 original types from Generation 1 (1996), and its mascot Pikachu became the face of the whole franchise.
Defensively it is one of the cleanest types in the game, resisting several attacks and fearing only Ground. That single-weakness identity has held since the beginning.

Frequently asked questions
What beats Electric-type Pokémon?
Electric-type Pokémon take double damage from Ground moves.
What are Electric-type Pokémon strong against?
Electric moves are super effective against Water and Flying, dealing double damage.
What is the only weakness of Electric-type Pokémon?
A pure Electric-type Pokémon is weak only to Ground. Ground is also the one type Electric moves cannot hit, since Ground-types are immune to Electric attacks, which makes the Electric versus Ground matchup a one-way exchange.
Why can Electric attacks not hit Ground-type Pokémon?
Ground-type Pokémon are grounded, so electricity passes harmlessly into the earth. In game terms Electric moves do zero damage to Ground-types. Many Electric-type players carry a second move type to cover that gap.
