Remember that many Normal-type Pokémon have a second type, which changes this list. A second type can add new weaknesses, cancel out an existing one, or turn a weakness into a four-times weakness when both types share it.
What are Normal-types strong against?
Normal moves are not super effective against any type. They deal reduced damage to Rock and Steel. They have no effect at all on Ghost.

- Eevee. A Normal-type able to evolve into several different types, which made it a fan favorite for decades.

Normal-type history
Normal is one of the 15 original types introduced in Generation 1 (1996). It has always been the most straightforward attacking type, with very few matchups where it deals extra or reduced damage.
Its one hard rule, that Normal moves do nothing to Ghost-types, has held since the very first games.

Frequently asked questions
What beats Normal-type Pokémon?
Normal-type Pokémon take double damage from Fighting moves. They are immune to Ghost moves, taking no damage at all.
What are Normal-type Pokémon strong against?
Normal moves are not super effective against any type. They deal reduced damage to Rock and Steel.
Can Normal-type moves hit Ghost-type Pokémon?
No. Normal-type moves have no effect on Ghost-type Pokémon, and Ghost-type moves in turn cannot hit Normal-types. The two types are mutually immune to each other.
Are there dual Normal-type Pokémon?
Yes. Many Normal-types pair with a second type, most often Flying, such as the common early-game bird Pokémon. A second type changes the species weaknesses, so a Normal/Flying Pokémon is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock rather than only to Fighting.
