Ground-Type Pokémon
Ground is one of the 18 Pokémon types. Ground-type Pokémon are the only type that deals double damage to Electric while also being completely immune to Electric attacks, and they threaten Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel.
Ground-type Pokémon are weak to Water, Grass, and Ice, resist Poison and Rock, and immune to Electric. There are 75 Ground-type Pokémon as of August 2026.

What beats Ground-type Pokémon?
A pure Ground-type Pokémon takes double damage from Water, Grass, and Ice moves. It takes reduced damage from Poison and Rock moves. It is immune to Electric moves, taking no damage at all.
Remember that many Ground-type Pokémon have a second type, which changes this list. A second type can add new weaknesses, cancel out an existing one, or turn a weakness into a four-times weakness when both types share it.
What are Ground-types strong against?
Ground moves are super effective against Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel, dealing double damage to those types. They deal reduced damage to Grass and Bug. They have no effect at all on Flying.

Ground-type history
Ground is one of the 15 original types from Generation 1 (1996). Its immunity to Electric and its wide super-effective coverage have made it one of the most reliable attacking types in every generation.
