Fairy-Type Pokémon

Fairy is one of the 18 Pokémon types. Fairy is the newest type, introduced in 2013 to rebalance the game, and Fairy-type Pokémon shut down Dragon, Fighting, and Dark while being weak only to Poison and Steel.

Fairy-type Pokémon are weak to Poison and Steel, resist Fighting, Bug, and Dark, and immune to Dragon. There are 64 Fairy-type Pokémon as of August 2026.

A pure Fairy-type Pokémon takes double damage from Poison and Steel moves. It takes reduced damage from Fighting, Bug, and Dark moves. It is immune to Dragon moves, taking no damage at all.

Remember that many Fairy-type Pokémon have a second type, which changes this list. A second type can add new weaknesses, cancel out an existing one, or turn a weakness into a four-times weakness when both types share it.

What are Fairy-types strong against?

Fairy moves are super effective against Fighting, Dragon, and Dark, dealing double damage to those types. They deal reduced damage to Fire, Poison, and Steel.

Notable Fairy-type Pokémon

  • Sylveon. The Fairy evolution of Eevee, introduced in Generation 6 alongside the type itself.
  • Gardevoir. A Psychic/Fairy Pokémon from Generation 3, retroactively given the Fairy type in Generation 6.
  • Mimikyu. A Ghost/Fairy Pokémon from Generation 7 with a unique protective ability.
  • Togekiss. A Fairy/Flying Pokémon from Generation 4, later reclassified with the Fairy type.

Fairy-type history

Fairy is the newest of the 18 types, added in Generation 6 (2013). It was introduced specifically to weaken the long-dominant Dragon-type, which cannot damage Fairy at all.

Several older Pokémon, such as Clefairy and Jigglypuff, were retroactively reclassified as Fairy-types when it arrived.
